I believe it is the second book of fiction written by this English author. The first was titled The Fall of Asgard. At age 45 after completing several other novels, Corbett was urged by his wife to give up writing fiction and to write serious historical works. He thereafter devoted himself to Naval History becoming England's authority on the topic.
